Record Store Day [03/14/2008] |
 |
Is it an internationally recognized holiday? No, but it should be! We are honored and proud to be participating in Record Store Day on April 19 as hundreds of indy record stores across the country will be celebrating what you already know... the coolest place in any town to hang out is your local record store. So with that said, we'll be hangin' out that day at the Rasputin Music store in Mountain View, CA starting at 2:00 PM.
Come on down to the store, say "hi," bring some stuff for us to sign, and in the spirit of supporting your local independent record store, maybe you'll want to do a little shopping while you're there.
Now, the fine print: In our humble effort to make sure that no one is rushed along and that we get a chance to chat with everyone, 400 wristbands will be distributed. You may start lining up at 8 AM... the store opens at 10 AM and will begin passing out wristbands at that time. Clubbers: Show your Club membership card when picking up a wristband at the store... we have an additional 100 wristbands set aside just for you , AND you will be at the front of the line!
We look forward to seeing our friends at Rasputin and catching up with those of you that can make your way to the store that day. See you then!

I agree. Californians complain about MetallicA shows in Europe. But what about their chance to meet the guys in the street while go working?
Good thing is lots of questions about the record will be asked by the fans.

Very nice idea
All the small record stores in my hometown are already closed, because of the big chains like....well yu all know them anyway.
I used to hang out at the small ones, because people there, were really dedicated to music and you had a good chat there too.

Definitely a good idea.
Do you remember how pleasant was to browse all the records in the shelves of a 40 m2 shop? You could listen to a particular (vinyl!) record, ask suggestions to the owner and often even talk about music in general without even buy a single record... Something like Nick Hornby's High Fidelity
