We promised we would be back . . . it’s the return of the European summer vacation! Following the attendance breaking indoor arena run that ended in May of this year, we are psyched to announce that we will be returning to Europe in May of next year to do an outdoor run of our own shows, primarily in stadiums, but also the occasional park and even a castle thrown in for good measure!

Kicking off May 1, 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal, the tour will visit 25 cities across 20 countries including many cities we did not stop in on the most recent excursion. Milan, Zürich, Dublin, Berlin, Moscow, Warsaw, Bucharest, Göteborg and Brussels (first time since 1988!) are all on the itinerary this summer. We also have three firsts (go figure!) with shows in Trondheim Norway, Hämeenlinna Finland, and Tartu, Estonia. Joining us for the festivities will be Ghost and Bokassa.

Over a year ago we told you that we had teamed up with acclaimed award winning author Matt Taylor to tell the definitive story of Master of Puppets and the subsequent tour that followed its release. You all jumped in to assist us in putting the pieces together by sending your photos, videos, stories and mementos... we could not have done it without you! Here’s your first glance at the cover of Metallica: Back to the Front, which will see the light of day Fall of 2016.

We’re pretty sure it will be worth the wait as the book is chock full of exclusive intensive interviews with all of us as we spent countless hours with Matt digging deep in our memory banks for stories, anecdotes, tidbits and tales from the studio, the road and beyond. Matt spoke to all the major players at that time in our history, including those who were with us during the making of the record including producer Flemming Rasmussen and the man who mixed it, Michael Wagener. He tracked down the entire MOP road crew including John Marshall and members of the bands who toured with us, Anthrax and Armored Saint. Our booking agent, tour promoters and managers Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch all were overly generous with their time and recollections. Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin and drummer Mike Bordin and Diamond Head’s Brian Tatler spoke with Matt about their memories of those crazy times and of course you, the fans who were at those shows gave us an amazing view of your memories and experiences. Finally, we’re honored that Cliff Burton’s dad Ray sat down for an extensive interview.

We all hit the storage lockers, attics and basements to fill the book with hundreds of never-before-seen images pulled from our personal archives and have been involved every step of the way to bring you the complete story. No stone was left un-turned as we gear up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album’s release.

After spending the better part of the last couple of years making our film Through The Never, we are so ready to make another album... it's been far too long! And when we're locked away in the studio, history has dictated that we always need that inspirational break to soak up all the great live Metalli-energy that you guys bring to the gigs. So as we may have done once or twice before (!!), we will be hitting the road this summer, but not just for another "European vacation"... we've added a twist - YOU PICK THE SET LIST!!

As we embark on two short treks through Europe, we're going to give you, the ticket holders, the chance to vote on what songs you would like to hear at the show(s) that you attend. It will be pretty simple... pick up your ticket(s) online and you'll receive an e-mail shortly after with a code and a link to a site on which you may cast your ballot. We normally play around 18 songs a night, and since we didn't want to be left out of the fun, the band also gets to vote . . . and we vote for a NEW SONG! That leaves the other 17 slots for you to choose, so vote for all your favorites from the close to 140 songs we've recorded in our career and to make it more fun along the way, you'll be able to follow what you and your fellow fans are selecting by watching the site for continuous results.

After over 30 years as a band, we have been unbelievably fortunate to visit just about every corner of the earth . . . except for one. That is all about to change as we are set travel to Antarctica, the only continent that Metallica has never played on until now!! About a month ago we mentioned that we have a live DVD in the works to complete the Death Magnetic experience and leaned on you to help us decide which songs would be on the main disc. As promised, we're back now with more details on that DVD, Quebec Magnetic (!?!) which will find its way to your local retailer, online store, Metallica.com and favorite digital provider on December 10, 2012.

This release is a first for us... yes boys and girls, the DVD and Blu-ray will be come out on our very own label in North America! There are still some "i's" being dotted and "t's crossed, so we can't give you a name or fancy logo just yet, but we're pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the reins on a release from start to finish. Since we now get to call all the shots, the double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for a price we thought was very Metallica fan friendly - suggested retail will be $15.98 for either format.

After years in the making, we are beyond excited to finally unveil the all new, out of control, massive stage and Metalli-show to some of our most rabid fans in the world with two shows in Mexico City at Sports Palace on August 1 and 2, 2012.

When we last visited Mexico City in June of 2009, those three sold out nights with over 150,000 of our craziest friends at Foro Sol Stadium were some of the most memorable, over the top, insane shows we have ever played. Now we'll be back with a brand new show that features your favorite iconic elements spanning our entire 30 year touring career all on a massive stage that is twice the size of the World Magnetic set up... we think it's something that needs to be seen to believed!!!

A few months ago our own Kirk Hammett hinted at a new Metallica project that's "not really 100 percent a Metallica record." While Kirk may have jumped the gun a little (and has since been properly punished with a series of push-ups!), we are more than proud to announce that we have just completed recording a full length album that is a collaboration with none other than the legendary Lou Reed.



Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together. Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months. In what would be lightning speed for a Metallica related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment we're not exactly sure when you'll hear it, we're beyond excited to share with you that the recording sessions wrapped up last week.



A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history, Lou's work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers. We can't wait for you to listen to the finished record, so as we like to hear ourselves say around here, keep watching this spot for updates . . . we'll be back with more details as they come together.

It all started when Kirk mentioned that his next door neighbor had invited us to play at his party in San Francisco and we figured "why not?" After all, it has been quite some time since we've played in our hometown, and we haven't exactly been getting out a lot lately. Well, it turns out that Kirk's neighbor, Marc Benioff, is the top dog at a "small" company called Salesforce.com and his shindig actually lasts for four days and hosts over 30,000 people! So much for a little backyard barbeque . . .

Following in the footsteps of Neil Young, the Foo Fighters, Black Crowes, and Stevie Wonder, we are excited to announce that we have been invited to play at the ninth annual Salesforce.com Dreamforce convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on Wednesday, August 31. It promises to be quite the party . . . where else can you learn everything you ever wanted to know about cloud computing during the day and then rock out with the 'Tallica at night?

We are so psyched to add a second show in Christchurch, New Zealand at CBS Canterbury Arena on September 21...thanks again for demanding that we visit you there!!

Now to the real reason we're here taking up space on this site...we also want to announce that all of our play dates have now filled up with the addition of this show...that's right boys and girls, this will be the last date added to the World Magnetic Tour! So if you're waiting for us to come to the Polar Ice Caps, your undiscovered planet or even your basement, sorry, this is as good at it gets.

It has been a very long, and most amazing run. The number of shows played depends on when you start counting. We are gonna go with what the boys in the band say, 'cuz they have been out on the road more or less continuously since May of 2008 and that brings us up to a total of 212 shows in 153 cities. Each and every one of them has been memorable and special and we thank you for that. This is where we could spew a bunch of crazy numbers at you...you know the 2.3 million tickets sold, 300 million miles traveled, 3,000 pounds of bacon consumed "shtick," but you don't care about that stuff and frankly neither do we. What we DO care about is letting you know the immense gratitude we feel for all of your love and support over these past two and half years. When we embarked on this "magnetic" journey, none of us ever, in our wildest dreams, imagined how truly incredible it would be and it's all because of hanging out with YOU!

It's obviously not over just yet, so let's not get too sappy here...we're off to Australia, New Zealand and Japan in the Fall for what promises to be some of the loudest, craziest, most rocking shows!

Referring to an article in the March issue of the German Metal Hammer an official (and from the band authorised) biography of Cliff Burton by Joel McIver will be released: TO LIVE IS TO DIE: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF METALLICA'S CLIFF BURTON.

Furthermore Lars is quite keen to go on tour with Gun's Roses again. I found an interesting article here (sorry it's in German as well).

This time I'm not in complete agreement with Lars, who's apparently a big fan of Chinese Democracy. I think this album sucks. But what do you think about the boys touring with Guns' Roses? Quite a nice idea, huh?


Kirk Hammett, Flemming Rasmussen and Burton’s girlfriend Corinne Lynn were interviewed for author Joel McIver’s new Burton book, ‘To Live Is To Die: the Life And Death Of Metallica’s Cliff Burton’. Read our exclusive excerpt!

Speaking exclusively to Hammer, McIver reveals that he spoke to a stellar cast of Metallica associates for his book. “I’ve been consistently blown away by how willing people have been over the last year or so to help out with Cliff’s story. Any Metallica book has to involve a certain group of 1982-era ‘Bay Area bangers’ — specifically Brian Lew, Ron Quintana and Harald Oimoen — and all those guys were extremely helpful. Fred Cotton of Spastik Children and Gary Holt of Exodus, who were regulars at the infamous ‘Metallica Mansion’ in El Cerrito, gave me some invaluable insights into Cliff’s character, as did Lightning/Puppets producer Flemming Rasmussen and Metal Blade founder Brian Slagel.”

“Ross Halfin did me a huge favour by asking Kirk Hammett to get involved, and Kirk himself showed true class by taking the time to speak to me in the middle of a huge tour. Finally, Cliff’s girlfriend Corinne Lynn was brave enough to revisit the sad day when she heard about his death — perhaps the most profound interview I executed for this book. There are at least another 30 other interviewees who have been consistently awesome, and with the help of all these people I hope I’ve come up with a book which goes some way to honouring Cliff’s memory in the way it deserves.”

‘Orion’ remains a superb song, and is beloved by bassists to this day for its range of expertise – from that iconic intro, via the solo figure at the start of the second movement, to the devastating solo at the end. Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse says: “My favourite Cliff Burton recording is ‘Orion’ from Master Of Puppets because it showcases several different aspects of Cliff’s playing. There is the beautiful melodic section that starts about halfway through the song – one of my favorite basslines ever – and excellent unison playing with the main riffs, as well as a couple of spotlight sections that show off Cliff’s unique distorted lead bass style, most notably the short but brilliant solo that happens towards the end of the song. ‘Orion’ shows that Cliff was a master of both the supporting and leading roles that a bass can take on.”

Interestingly, it emerges that this solo wasn’t composed by Cliff. As Kirk told me, “The bass solo in ‘Orion’ after my solo at the end of the song, that was the second part of the guitar solo – but at that point I had left to go back to the States, and Cliff was there for maybe three days longer in Copenhagen. And so what he did was, he put a bass solo in there and he played like half my guitar solo but on the bass! So he kind of appropriated half of my guitar solo into his bass solo, and made it his own thing. Which was totally fine with me.”

Asked if there was a bass solo on Puppets as there had been on Kill ‘Em All (and to an extent on Ride The Lightning, if you include the introduction to ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’), Cliff nominated the album’s last song. “On this album it’s the intro to a song called ‘Damage, Inc.’ done all on bass,” he said. “It’s about eight or 12 tracks of bass, a lot of harmonies and volume swells and effects and stuff. I would hesitate to call it a bass solo, it’s more just an intro, but it is all bass.” A blisteringly violent song, ‘Damage, Inc.’’s sole concession to melody on bass is that introduction, a menacing cluster of notes that fades in before introducing the harsh main riff. “The intro to ‘Damage, Inc.’ is the same thing as ‘Orion’ – a lot of bass, reversed,” confirms Rasmussen. “It was another one of his ideas…”

By now James and Lars had come a long way towards equalling the musical skills of their colleagues – who, effectively, two lead instrumentalists at times. However, Cliff and Kirk shared a genuine love of the intricacies of music theory that the others never shared. As Kirk remembers today: “I was into the whole Euro-metal thing, and I used a few different scales. The Phrygian dominant was the one that Cliff showed a lot of interest in. He used to watch me playing lead guitar all the time, trying to learn guitar licks and trying to snag little bits and pieces of information here and there. We would talk about theory and how it worked: just casual conversations about it. He loved theory and he loved classical music: he was a big fan of Bach. He told me that the intro to ‘Damage, Inc.’ is actually based on a Bach piece called ‘Come Sweet Death’ or something or other, which was a little bit ironic in the wake of what would happen to him”.

Kirk reveals that sometimes the band had to restrain Cliff a little. As he says, laughing: “Sometimes it was like, ‘You know, Cliff, you have to play the part – that particular part is meant to be played in unison, not in a fragmented form with you soloing in the corner!’ There were instances where he would overplay, but you know that’s to be expected from anyone who’s a great musician. All great musicians overplay.”

Millions of fans wish to this day that they could have seen Cliff recording the Master Of Puppets bass parts, hallowed as they have become over the years. The only real way into the sessions that we have in Cliff’s absence is via the words of co-producer Flemming Rasmussen, whose recall of the album’s recording is perfect.

“Cliff was a pretty quiet guy,” begins Rasmussen. “He kept a lot to himself and I think he was a little shy. In 1985, when we recorded the album, he was still wearing bell-bottom pants, which were totally out of fashion at the time. He attracted a lot of attention to himself because of them, but I think he was used to it. He just kept saying, ‘Well, they’re gonna come back into fashion one day and I like them, so I’m just gonna keep them’.”

Flemming confirms the idea that Metallica basically comprised two loud musicians and two quiet ones, explaining “There were the two noisy guys and the two quiet guys. Lars and James stuck together because they composed all the stuff, except for Cliff’s songs which he did all by himself,” but also that Burton’s influence was apparent despite his less extrovert nature. “Cliff was really great, because he let me be in charge,” he says, “and in turn I would respect what he’d done. Metallica never went into the studio without having all the songs and the arrangements ready beforehand. They had really good demos of all their songs. Everything was composed and, for the most part, also arranged. We changed bits, but they were always really well-prepared when they came into the studio.”


To Live Is To Die: The Life And Death Of Metallica’s Cliff Burton is available in the UK from June 30th and the US on July 1st.

There's been a little chatter here and there about us filming a few shows this summer for potential release on DVD and among the countless internet rumors, these ones are actually true! We thought it would be cool to document a few shows that are unique and sure to be extra memorable for us, and hopefully for you too . . . first up are the three sold out shows in Mexico City, Mexico at Foro Sol on June 4, 6, 7 and later this summer, we also plan to have the cameras rolling at the sold out show in Nimes, France at Arenes de Nimes, the historic Roman amphitheatre where we'll be on July 7.

For any Metallica friends going to these shows, bring your war faces and don't be scared of the cameras!!

Here at MetClub, we've had this idea brewing for a while and we're ready to finally put the wheels in motion. We would like to have Clubbers help film the first three shows in Copenhagen (July 20, 22, 23). We are calling it "Fan Filmed Fan Can" (yes, there will eventually be a Fan Can!) and it will feature the work of your fellow Clubbers manning multiple cameras throughout the venue.

We will not be having the usual "click here to enter" contest. We actually want to see YOUR work behind the camera. We want to see what you've shot! * You must be able to be in Copenhagen for one of the first three shows, July 20, 22, 23.

It's been brought to our attention that the CD "maxi" single for "Broken, Beat & Scarred," which was released last week in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, has incorrect information in the credits. Unfortunately we, nor anyone from our management, saw the artwork before it was released . . . so let's see, who does that leave? Without pointing any fingers, ah fuck it, you guessed it . . . the record company screwed up. The singles that are out there will most likely be pulled from the stores and another run will be available soon . . . and for those of you who already own it, well, just another collector's edition!

Sorry for the inconvenience . . . guilty parties will be punished accordingly!!!

Greetings from not so sunny Northern California. We know that things have been pretty quiet here in web-land, so we thought we'd throw some shit your way... here goes...

We are finishing up the last couple weeks of pre-production on the album and... really... seriously...(drumroll)... we're going to start recording on March 12th. We're pretty fuckin' psyched about it and pretty fuckin' psyched to be sharing this experience with Rick.

But wait... there's more. We kinda sorta figured that by the time June rolled around, we would be ready for a break from recording (escape??) and since we had so much fun in Europe last summer, we thought "why not go back for some more fun and games?" We're planning to share the summer love with our friends in some different countries we didn't get to last year.. okay, fuck it, maybe one or two repeats. We haven't quite worked out all the details yet, but we thought that for once we really would be the first site to break a piece of Metallica news.

So keep your eyes open for more details in the next few.. the plan right now is to head out in late June and hang out for a couple/three weeks. We might even do a certain festival that we've played 19 times in July that starts with a "W," maybe hit a certain band member's home turf... blah, blah, blah.

Memorial stone dedicated to former bass player, Cliff Burton, unveiled.


In Connection with the 20th anniversary of Cliff's death (i.e. 27th September), on Saturday 30th September, the special memorial stone, created by Manuel Pino, was placed close to the site of the accident and uncovered at 17:00 CET. After the stone was uncovered a rememberence concert was held at the nearby restaurant/pub, Gyllene Rasten, where these bands performed: Age of Fury, The Haze, Killersqueze and Morbid Insultor.

We've been getting requests for many years to release all the promotional videos on DVD and it's finally happening! In addition to every video we've ever made, for the first time ever the "2 of One," release (which up until now has only been available on VHS) will be available on DVD. Also included is "Mama Said," which never aired in North America, maybe not even anywhere in the world, and a few little extras such as "The Unforgiven" theatrical version and the "Some Kind Of Monster" film trailer. Plus, all the audio has been re-mixed in 5.1 surround sound.

Cliff Burton was born in february 10th 1962, to Jan and Ray Burton. He also had two siblings, his brother Scott and an older sister Connie. He grew up and went to highschool and junior collage in San Fransisco (Castro Valley), where he also had a job at an equipment rental yard. Graduating from high school in 1980, he joined a band called Trauma. Back Then Cliff was the Front Man constantly headbanging with his red hair flying.

Metallica got wind of this upcoming bass player during one of Trauma's gigs in the SF area. Lars and James agreed this was the man that they wanted to play the bass for Metallica. After many months of pleading and phone calls Cliff agreed to join Metallica on one condition; they would have to move to San Fransisco Bay area, and Metallica agreed.

Cliff and Metallica released three albums (Kill Ém All, Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets) and made six major tours.His first gig was on the "Kill em all for one tour" back on march 5th 1983. And his last gig was on the "Damage Inc." Tour on september 6th 1986. That's close to 200 gigs before this tragedy struck, when Cliff died in a bus accident in Sweden.

The date was september 27th 1986. He was only 24.

Cliff was cremated and his ashes were scattered at the Maxwell ranch.

For the band Dethklok, the world is full of darkness, pain, destruction and death. Not to mention groupies and ear-shattering heavy metal and piles of cash. Metalocalypse is the new Adult Swim animated series that follows the exploits of Dethklok, the world's most popular band and most significant cultural force. Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, Metalocalypse will air Sundays at 11:45 p.m. (ET, PT) beginning Sunday, August 6th 2006. At 12:01 AM, on Tuesday July 25th, we will begin offering our music on the iTunes Music Store, a Cupertino, CA based upstart outfit, who we feel may very well have a bright future . . . .

Over the last year or so, we have seen an ever-growing number of Metallica fans using online sites like iTunes to get their music. So, in continuing with the tradition of offering our albums for sale online (which we've been doing for a few years through various sites), as well as making our live concerts available for download in their entirety (through the livemetallica.com site), we are now offering fans the opportunity to obtain our songs individually.

Since many fans already have our albums in one form or another, but might still want to check out the digital versions, we decided to throw a couple of previously unreleased live tracks (Seattle, '89) on to each of the first four albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, & ...And Justice For All). We chose these four because, unlike the more recent releases, we were only capable of writing 8-9 songs for each of these albums!

Oh, and by the way, the iTunes Music Stores in the U.S. and Canada are the only ones that will be offering Metallica. This is unfortunately due to the fact that our record company overseas doesn't seem to want to play ball with us on this at the moment. Hopefully this will get sorted out ASAFP, but we didn't want our fans in North America to have to wait any longer while our overseas record company tries to get their shit together!

My friends from the official Italian MetClub Chapter "The Italian Metallibashers" are doing a kickass work. To anybody who will be in Imola, you have to attend this event

Basically, not much has changed - passes will still be given out lottery style to give all Clubbers a fair and equal chance and we will continue to do it online, so you will know before the show if you have won a pass or not. If you win, you simply follow the directions on the winning email that will tell you how to check in and exactly what time the meet and greet will be, which is still before Metallica goes on stage . . . that part hasn't changed either.
We will be conducting the lotteries in groups. Here is the schedule:

Damaged Switzerland (Swiss METALLICA fan club) together with Abart Club in Zürich and in cooperation with Italian Metallibashers (Italy), St.(yrian) Anger (Austria) and Don't Tread on Austria will be staging the Metallibash 2006 European Metallica Fan Club Convention on Saturday, February 11 at the Abart Club in Zürich, Switzerland. The event will feature a performance by the Italian METALLICA tribute band ORION, plus a METALLICA records-and-memorabilia fair, competition, and videos on a big screen. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age in order to attend the convention.

now time has come true. Our Chaptershirt is now available for everybody. The shirt is black with silver or white printing on the left pocket on the front and a big print on the back side. Wie soeben bekannt wurde, werden Metallica für 2 Gigs zurück auf die Bühne kommen, und zwar demnächst. Sie werden als Opening Act für die Rolling Stones am 13. und 15. September in San Francisco auftreten. Kann man nur hoffen, daß weitere Gigs folgen werden.

James verkauft einige seiner Trophäen die er über die Jahre gesammelt hat. Alle Trophäen wurden von James Hetfield persöhnlich gepflegt. Früher hangen sie im Wohnzimmer von James (auch genannt "The Dead Room"). Verkauft werden diese Raritäten mit einem Zertifikat von James Hetfield signiert. Erträge vom Gewinn des Verkaufes gehen zum "Musicans Assistance Program" und zu "Vh1 Save The Music Foundation".

Wer lust hat kann mitbieten

Santanas neues Album "All That I Am" wird voraussichtlich am 1. Novemeber erscheinen. Auf dem Album ist Metallica Gitarrist Kirk Hammet zu hören. Und zwar genau in dem Song "Trinity" in dem Song wirken Santana selber, Kirk und Robert Randolph mit. Kirk hat auch schon im Jahre 2001 zusammen mit Carlos bei einem Benefizkonzert in San Francisco gearbeitet. Carlos wurde auch im Jahre 2002 während der St.Anger Aufnahmen ins Studio eingeladen. Also, wir sind schon auf das Ergebnis gespannt.

Das spanische Label "Locomotive Records" hat am 19. Juli eine inoffizielle Metallica DVD veröffentlicht. Die DVD hat eine Länge von 2 Stunden und gibt einen Überblick über die komplette Geschichte Metallica's. Vorallem in Bezug auf ihr Leben auf Tour. Es gibt detaillierte Discographien, exklusive Interviews und Videos von verschiedenen Touren.

Lange hat es gedauert, endlich sind mal wieder ein paar Boots zum Download bereit. Viel Spaß damit.

Viele Fragen sich wohl: Was machen unsere 4 Jungs von Metallica zur Zeit?

James wurde am 16.07. bei der Hochzeit von Sandra Bullock und Jesse James gesichtet! Die Hochzeit fand vor einigen Hundert Gästen auf der Folded Hills Ranch im Santa Ynez Valley (bei Santa Barbara) statt, zu den geladenen Gästen gehören auch William Shatner (bekannt als Captain Kirk) und Jamie Lee Curtis. Na dann James, lass es krachen!

Wie bereits berichtet wurden Kirk und Lars letzten Monat beim Konzert von Mars Volta in Berkeley gesehen, Robert arbeitet, wenn man MTV glauben kann, momentan mit Jerry Cantrell zusammen und Bob Rock hat seine Arbeiten am neuesten Album von Our Lady Peace und Nina Gordon beendet.

Weiterhin wird James in der Discovery-Channel Reportage "Monster Garage" zu sehen sein, eine Sendung von Jesse James in der er ansatzweise vergleichbar mit 'Pimp my car' alles motorbetriebene zu unmenschlichen Leistungen bewegt. Wann genau und und in welcher Episode Hetfield zu sehen sein wird ist noch unklar. Mehr dazu hier:

Im Metclub Chat wurde bekannt gegeben welches Material diesesmal auf der Fan Can landet! Videos gibt es vom "Raider's Gig", dem geheimen "Spun-Gig" aus dem Kimo's und der Relaunch Party. Ob die Gigs komplett gezeigt werden oder nur Ausschnitte wurde nicht verraten, Fixxxer, der Admins des offiziellen Metallica Boards deutete aber auf "Highlights" hin. Daher kann auch noch keine Aussage darüber getroffen werden ob "Dead Kennedy Rolls On" auf der Fan Can #5 landet.

Endlich ist es soweit. Nach wochenlangem Warten ist der S&M Gig vom 19.11.99 Berlin Velodrome endlich zum downlaod bereit. Der Gig ist jetzt mal eine Woche online. Also, beeilt Euch.

Robert zählt zu den zahlreichen Musikern, die auf dem neuen Album des Ex-"Alice In Chains" Gitarristen Jerry Cantrell vertreten sind. Sein Soloalbum wird für das Frühjahr 2006 erwartet. Cantrell hatte auch zuvor schon oft mit namhaften Musikern wie "Jane's Addiction" Bassist Chris Wyse (hatte sich auch bei Metallica beworben hatte), sowie Mike Inez "Faith No more", der auf dem 2002 erschienen Cantrell-Album "Degradatuib Trip" die Drums schlug. Wir warten also gespannt auf die neue Scheibe.

Kirk wird auf dem neuen, am 13.September diesen Jahres erscheinenden, Santana-Album mit dem Namen 'All That I Am' mitspielen. Dabei übernimmt er einige Gitarrenparts eines einzelnen Titels, auf dem Album von Santana finden sich aber noch weitaus mehr Künstler wie Mary J. Blige, Big Boi (Outkast), Los Lonely Boys, Uncle Kracker, Black Eyed Peas, Anthony Hamilton, Sean Paul, Michelle Branch, Wes Scantlin (Puddle of Mudd) und Robert Randolph.

2001 hat Kirk schonmal mit Carlos Santana zusammen gearbeitet, als sie zusammen für eine Benefiz-Show auf der Bühne standen, außerdem kam Carlos 2002 zu Besuch in's HQ, um MetallicA während der Aufnahmen von 'St.Anger' zu besuchen.

Nach drei Tagen ist unser donttreadonaustria.at Forum wieder online.
Aus bisher unerklärlichen Gründen wurden viele User inkl. aller Admins gelöscht.
Wir haben dies zum Anlaß genommen sämtliche Kennwörter zu ändern und das Forum noch einmal komplett neu aufzusetzen.

THE METALLICAVAULT WEBSITE TO CLOSE

We have some good news and bad news about the closure of The Metallicavault.com website.

First, the bad news:

We are sorry to announce that, effective on June 6, 2005, the Metallica Vault (www.metallicavault.com) will cease operation.

Since it started in June 2003 (with the release of St. Anger), the Vault has been a unique haven for us (as well as you) to offer live shows from throughout Metallicas history for download to anyone who had an access code (provided inside copies of the St. Anger CD). In that time, 18 shows were posted, and over 250.000 fans checked out the site and over 20 million free downloads flowed through cyberspace.

We opened the Vault in conjunction with our friends at Speakeasy, who were kind enough to provide the bandwidth and logistics. However, the expenses of hosting and maintaining the site for two years did not quite add up to the returns they were hoping for - unfortunately the internet is not free to those who make it possible.

Now the good news: There will be an abbreviated version of the Vault that will live on through www.livemetallica.com in the form of monthly free downloads - each month we will offer you a few songs that you may have seen there and some that you have not. You will need to register again, but you will not need that pesky key.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the Vault during its run, Speakeasy, the labels (who let us post the shows without any hassles), and THE FANS, who not only supported the site by checking it out so much, but also helped by providing us with live shows from their own archives! You guys rule. But you knew that already.

We hope that you all agree with us that the Vault was a positive experience for everyone involved. As always, feel free to let us know what you think - we know you aint shy!

So Leute, demnächst wird es ein kleines Gewinnspiel für unsere MetClubber bzw. User geben. Ich werd mir das noch ein wenig genauer überlegen, wie wir das ganze angehen werden. Wir bitten Euch um ein wenig Geduld. Dafür gehts dann so richtig rund. Ich werde als kleines Dankeschön für Eure geduld wieder ein paar Bootlegs uploaden und sie Euch zum Download bereit stellen. *Warum Pepper Keenan nicht der neue Metallica Bassist wurde*

Pepper Keenan(COC) war eiener der Bassisten, die ins Metallica HeadQuater eingeladen wurden. Kürzlich berichtete er, warum es nicht dazu kam, dass er Bassist bei Metallica wurde:

"Sie brauchten mich nicht. Sie brauchten einen "Ja-Sager", keinen zusätzlichen Hetfield oder Lars. Und das wäre passiert wenn sie mich genommen hätten. Mein Ego wäre mit so einer Situation nicht klar gekommen....mein Songwriting ist nicht genial, aber ich glaube ich bin zur Zeit ziemlich gut!"
