Eigentlich hab ich das Album heute zu Mittag bei der Plattenfirma angehört:
Hier mein review (in englisch - weil schon auf metclub.com und metallica.com gepostet) und ich zu faul zum übersetzen bin.
BITTE BIITE keine Fragen!!!!!! Wartet einfach auf das Album und hört es Euch selber an. Da werden alle Fragen beantwortet.
Ja, Lars spielt ein paar mal double-bass, nein, James rappt nicht, Ja, es gibt Solos
Ich persönlich finde das Album besser als St. Anger, Load und Reload und ich finde, daß das Album ein Band-Klassiker werden könnte.
Ich habe bei einigen Stellen wirklich glücklich gelächelt und glaubt mir das letzte Mal hab ich glücklich gelächelt wie Österreich Deutschland 3:2 geschlagen hat.

So, schnell mein Review, bevor sie mich in die Klappsmühle einweisen

This was my first post when I heard 5 songs at the record company:

Today (wednesday) I was again invited to hear the whole "death magnetic"-record.
I know, that it was sold in any shops and that the album is available at the internet.
BUT: I am a hardcore-fan and I NEVER EVER have downloaded for free ANY Metallica-song. Its just a question of respect and I also worked in the music-business and I saw a lot of band loose lots of money because of downloading (free).
Here is my review:
First - sorry for my bad english
Second - Again - I heard the songs only ONE time (ok, ok the first 5 songs I hear few days before)
Three - This time I had the booklet (AMAZING BOOKLET!!!!!) in my hands and could write down some lyrics.
Four "...." = lyrics
Five: Maybe there are parts which I have written in my first review, which you cannot see here. When you hear something that you are waiting for for years and you are nervous (I quit smoking in november 06 - today I smoked some cigarettes again) you cannot look for every detail.
Six: I am not a professional writer - I just write down what I feel and hear (and read sometimes)

Start:
1. That was just your life (7:10)
Heartbeat
A riff lick "the thing that should not be
Drums - Another riff - heavy riff
fast snare drums
short double bass
"Like a siren in my head...."

This song is heavy and the riff is very cool. And there is a very cool guitar solo!
Yes, the solos are back!
The last refrain is very fast and there is again DOUBLE BASS!
The song stopped with "that was just your life"
2. The end of the line (7:50)
Very cool riff, that goes into your ear
"need...more and more - tainted misery" "bleed....battle scars - chemical affinity"
Refrain:
"Hooked into the deceiver - Need more and more - into the endless fever......"
After the 2nd refrain there comes a very slow part, where James sings very ...(like you sing a ballad - dont know the english word)
"drop the hourglass of time - spilling sand we will not find - as we gather here today - we bid farewell"
"The slaves becomes the master" (2 times slow)
"THE SLAVES BECOMES THE MASTER (Faster) VERY GROOVY!!!!!
"the end of the line" - Finish
3. broken, beat & scarred (6:25)
Drums with guitar -heavy riff again that goes into your ear.
" You rise - you fall"
"you´re down when you rise again"
"What don´t kill ya make ya more strong"
"SHOW YOUR SCARS"
Again a solo from kirk with some effects (shit I would like to tell you more but my english sucks and when I start to translate it with a wordbook - it would not be me)
"we die hard" - Finish
4. The day that never comes (7:55)
Is there anybody out there in the Metallica-univers, that didnt hear the song right now - then send me a mail to:

BUT: Now when I read the lyrics I get one goose bump after one goose bump (goose skin - whatever)
And I think there is a little misprint in the end "this, I swear the son will shine (son or sun?)
5. All nightmare long (8:01)
Riff with a little country tuch - Drums - very heavy guitars
back to the old "Ride..." "Master" - times
"ONE TWO"
"Luck ... runs ..... out" James voice sounds like a monster from a horror movie
His voice sound like he is very pissed (maybe his wife stoe his credit-card and was at armani)

very cool and futuristic solo from Kirk
Then comes my favorite part of the record: Solo Kirk - Lars double bass (this part is SOOOOOOOO Fuckin Heavy!!!!!)

6. Cyanide (6:41)
I heard this song live in Jonschwil and I didnt like it very much, but on the record he is very, very good.
Cool BASS Riff - cool guitar riff
"Sleep and dream of this, death angel´s kiss"
I love the part "empty they say" when there is a brilliant Lars Ulrich in the background (with drums not with singing!)
"empty they say - won´t you let me stay"
"the crying, weeping, shedding... - year after year, life after life"
"Its just the funeral I´ve been waiting for"
7. the unforgiven III (7:47)
Piano , WHAT ???? PIANO and what is this --------STRINGS (by the way the strings are not from Apocalyptica, the guys name is David Campbell - and are there trumpets (cannot face it)
BUT ITS COOL!!!!
Now its getting faster
"How could he know this new dawn´s light - would change his life forever?"
First I thought that the fast part destroys the song and the cool beginning but it fits.. and there is a middle part, which is not so heavy and there a the strings in the back...
Metallica enters new ways and I love it
IS there a fuckin violin in the background (fuck I want to hear the record a second time but i cannot)
Then there is a part that remembers me on "my friend of misery" (the bass part in the middle"
"Forgive me - forgive me not" cool orchestra parts and a Kirk solo from hell!!!
I LOVE THIS RECORD!!!!!!
And my scepsis is away - this is a very, very cool 3rd part!!!!! of the unforgiven
"so how can I blame you, when it´s me I can´t forgive"
8. The judas kuss (8:02)
Heavy, very heavy start
"when the world has turned it´s back - when the days have turned pitch black"
This song is very very cool, James is playing with his voice and the tempo and the singing. Cannot desribe it exactly but it sounds great. Its a play of his normal barking and smoother voice. You will love this song - TRUST ME
If not go and buy some of the Emo-shit records.
"sell your soul to me - I will set you free" Huh?????
Now comes an evil part
James sings like satan:
"Followed you from dawn of time - whispered thoughts into your mind........."
"So, bow down - sell your soul to me - I will set you free - pacify your demons - bow down - surrender unto me - submit infectiously - sanctify your demons - into abyss - you don´t exist - cannot resist - the judas kiss"
THIS SONG IS SOOOO FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!
9. suicide & redemption 10:02)

This song is a instrumental
BRILLIANT - Love it
I mean have you ever hear a bad Metallica-instrumental. I think it was time for another one.
10. My apocalypse (5:01)

End-Result:
This record is better than St. Anger, than Load and Reload.
I think it has the possibilities to become a band-classic. AND I REALLY MEAN IT!
